The Empress Tarot Card Meaning
Nurturing, creativity, and abundance
By Marie Mystic
The Empress Upright Meaning
The Empress rests in a lush garden, surrounded by wheat and flowing water. Upright, she stands for nurturing, creativity, abundance and the pleasure of being fully alive in your senses. She encourages you to care for your body, your home and the things you are growing, whether that is a project, a relationship or a family. Give yourself permission to enjoy what you are building.
The Empress Reversed Meaning
Reversed, The Empress can suggest creative blocks, overgiving or neglecting your own needs. It may also describe smothering, or leaning too heavily on comfort. Ask where you are running on empty, and what small act of self-care would refill you. Growth often returns when you tend to the gardener first.
The Empress Card Combinations
With The Emperor, nurture and structure support each other. With The Star, healing and growth arrive together. Beside the Ace of Cups, love and creativity begin to flow. Next to the Five of Pentacles, remember that care also means asking for help.
